What is Maypop?
Maypop is a place to build things that matter — for you, for the people you love, for your community. Say what your group needs and Maypop builds it as a working app: a chore rota for the house, a tournament bracket for the club, a recipe box for the family, a game for friends. Then share it in a link, keep changing it, and use it together.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- Build by describing. Type what you want in Studio and an AI agent writes, runs and tests the app while you watch. Keep talking to change it. It works on your phone too.
- Share with exactly who you mean. Keep an app to yourself, invite people by email or username, publish it into a group, or let anyone with the link open it. More on sharing.
- Get found. Public apps appear on Explore and can show up in search engines. Anyone can open and try them, no account needed.
- Remix. Found something close to what you want? Remix it into your own copy and change it however you like.
- Talk in groups. Groups are conversations with a shelf of the apps shared into them.
- Build with code, if you like. Use the CLI and your own editor or coding assistant, with Vite, Rsbuild, Next.js or plain HTML.
What a Maypop app is
Section titled “What a Maypop app is”A Maypop app is a web app — HTML, CSS and JavaScript — that Maypop hosts and opens inside a secure frame. Maypop gives every app, through the app SDK:
- Accounts — people sign in to Maypop once; apps never need a login page.
- A shared database — the KV store, live across devices and people, with rules for what’s private.
- File storage — Drive for photos, audio, video and documents.
- Multiplayer — rooms and real-time messages between the people using the app.
- AI — chat, images, video, audio and transcription, plus in-app agents, with no API keys.
- Integrations — external services through MCP.
- Notifications and sharing — deep links, share cards and notifications to the app’s audience.
There is no server for you to run, and none to run your own code on: a Maypop app can’t host a Node or Python process, an SQL database, secrets or scheduled jobs. Most apps don’t need them; when one does, that part lives on a server you host and the app calls it.
The app is what you own
Section titled “The app is what you own”Every app has one address, app.maypop.ai/app/<id>, and it owns its
versions, its data and its files. Sharing an app into a group or with a
person gives them access to that same app and the same data — never a
separate copy. Key concepts explains the model.
