Glossary
Agent — An AI that doesn’t just answer but does things: in Studio, it writes your app’s code, runs it and tests it. Apps can have their own agents too.
App — Something you build on Maypop: a game, a tracker, a planner, a
quiz. It lives at its own link, app.maypop.ai/app/<id>, and keeps its own
data. See Key concepts.
Assistant — A general AI chat app such as Claude or ChatGPT. You can connect one to Maypop.
CLI — Command-line interface: the maypop program you run in a terminal
to publish apps from your own code. More.
Credits — What AI work is paid in. Free accounts get a daily allowance. Models and costs.
Drive — An app’s file storage, for photos, audio and documents. More.
Explore — Maypop’s showcase of public apps. More.
General access — The setting that decides what opening an app’s link does. More.
Group — A chat for a set of people, with a shelf of apps shared into it. More.
Iteration — One round of changes in Studio. You can revert to any of them. More.
KV store — An app’s shared database: named slots (“keys”) holding values, shared live with everyone using the app. More.
MCP — Model Context Protocol, an open standard that connects AI to other services. Maypop uses it both ways: your assistant can use Maypop, and your app can use other services.
Multiplayer — People using an app at the same time and seeing each other live. More.
Preview — The running copy of your app inside Studio. It uses real data.
Prompt — What you type to tell the AI what you want.
Publish — Make your latest changes the version other people see.
Remix — Make your own copy of someone’s app to change. More.
Role — What someone can do in an app: Can view, Can use, Can edit
or Can manage. More.
SDK — Software development kit: the maypop code library an app uses to
reach accounts, data, files and AI. More.
Studio — Where you build and change apps by chatting with an agent. More.
Tier — How powerful a model is: Fast, Smart or Pro.
More.
Token — The unit AI models read and write in, about four characters of text. Credits are counted from tokens.
Version — A published state of an app. One is live for everyone.
Vibe coding — Building software by describing it to an AI and steering the result, rather than writing the code yourself. Studio is vibe coding with everything else — hosting, data, sharing — already done.
